We are thrilled to announce that TES Power has been awarded a landmark contract to deliver critical power infrastructure for a major new Greenfield Data Centre facility in Northern Spain. This 48MW development represents a significant step forward in European digital infrastructure, designed specifically to support the high-density computing demands of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution, further underscoring TES Power’s growing reputation as a trusted partner for hyperscale and mission-critical projects across the continent.
The project involves the design, manufacture, and delivery of 25 separate 2.5MW IT Power Skids. These units are the heartbeat of the facility, responsible for delivering unwavering power to the servers that will drive AI applications, machine learning models, and data processing at massive scale.
In the high-stakes world of AI data centres, “uptime” is not just a metric; it is the absolute priority. These custom-engineered skids are designed to ensure that if there is even a millisecond of interruption in the mains supply, the system automatically and seamlessly switches to battery power while the backup generators kick in. This “flicker-free” transition is vital for protecting sensitive IT equipment and preventing data corruption.
Each of the 25 skids is a fully integrated, self-contained power powerhouse, engineered for rapid deployment and maximum reliability. The scope of the award includes:
- Cast Resin Transformers & Enclosures: High-efficiency voltage transformation with robust protection.
- LV Switchboards: Precision-engineered for safe and efficient power distribution.
- Dual 1500KVA UPS Systems: Operating in parallel to provide redundancy.
- 7-Minute EOL Batteries: Ensuring ample bridge time during power transition events.
- CRAH Units (Computer Room Air Handlers): Integrated cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures for the power equipment.
- Busbar Interlinking: For reliable, high-current connection between components.
- Fully Populated Skid Assembly: Pre-wired and pre-tested off-site to minimise on-site works.
The decision to utilise a prefabricated skid solution is strategic. In the race to build AI infrastructure, speed to market is critical. By manufacturing these 2.5MW units off-site at TES facilities, we can run concurrent work streams—building the power infrastructure while the site in Spain is being prepared.
Furthermore, these skids allow for rigorous Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in a controlled environment before they ever reach Northern Spain. This “plug-and-play” approach significantly de-risks the construction phase, reduces installation time, and ensures that every bolt, busbar, and breaker is performing perfectly before deployment.
TES Power’s involvement goes beyond just hardware. The project heavily utilises BIM Modelling (Building Information Modelling), creating a digital twin of every skid. This allows for precise coordination with other site services, clash detection, and future operational maintenance planning.
Our scope also encompasses full Project Management and Site Services, ensuring a smooth journey from the factory floor to final commissioning in Spain.
Spain is rapidly emerging as a key hub for European data centres, driven by the availability of renewable energy and strategic connectivity. We are proud to be contributing to this ecosystem, delivering the robust power backbone required for the next generation of technology.
