On the morning of the Belfast Marathon, our eager TES runners will be departing Cookstown at approximately 7am, (an early start for Bank Holiday Monday, if I don’t say so myself) aiming to arrive in Belfast for approximately 8am, with the race commencing shortly after arrival.

Mencap are a passionate group of people committed to changing the world for everyone with a learning disability
Mencap History
Formed in 1946, Judy Fryd, a mother of a child with a learning disability, wrote a letter to Nursery World to highlight the unfairness of her daughter being away from a mainstream school. Little did Judy know, this would be the start of Mencap, an exceptionally charitable organisation, now established as the leading UK charity for people with a learning disability.
Mencap Services
The services we provide range from round-the-clock care to helping someone join in with local leisure activities, providing advice and information on things like employment and education, helping someone to live independently for the first time, and even things like reporting a crime to the police. In a nutshell, Mencap try to help in any area of a person’s life where they need support.
Mencaps Vision & Mission
Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.
Mencap’s mission is to transform society’s attitudes to learning disability and improve the quality of life of people with a learning disability and their families.
