The Cancer Focus NI Keeping Well bus has revisited TES to carry out a health assessment of the TES workforce. Each member of staff gets a comprehensive, confidential health check lasting approximately 30 minutes. Health checks include the following;
- Body composition
- Blood pressure check
- Blood glucose check
- Smoking cessation information.
Body composition is measured in terms of body weight, muscle mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat reading, basal metabolic rate and body water percentage carried out by a health promotion officer. Each individual is provided with an information pack, detailing physical activity, nutritional information and includes set individual goals. The nurse talks specifically about self-examination and general cancer awareness and carries out the blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
Speaking about the health assessments TES SHEQ Manager John Crossan said “the well being of our staff is our number one priority, we have used the Cancer Focus NI Keeping Well service in the past and always received excellent feedback from staff. The bus will be here at TES HQ for four days providing all members of TES staff with the opportunity of receiving a confidential health check up and advice on how to improve their health and well being.”
