TES were recently awarded the Workplace Health & Wellbeing Recognition Award by Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS). The award was presented as recognition of the company’s efforts in supporting the health and wellbeing of staff in the workplace.
TES participated in the “Work Well Live Well” programme, fully funded by the Public Health Agency, and delivered by NICHS. The aim of the Work Well Live Well programme is to provide local workplaces with a framework to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees through personalised support.
The roll-out of the programme, which was implemented by the TES staff team, kicked off with a workplace health and wellbeing survey. Results were analysed to determine health priorities and together with NICHS, a bespoke 3-year health action plan was developed specifically for TES.
Simple adaptations were made at TES, such as greater access to healthy snacks and incentivised exercise. Vitally, the programme focused heavily on improving mental health and sleep, managing stress and reducing risk factors associated with heart disease.
Head of HR Keith Smith commented, “At TES, the health and welfare of our workforce is our top priority. The NICHS ‘Work Well Live Well’ programme was an extremely positive programme for the company. Critically, it armed our people with the knowledge and skills to manage mental as well as physical health.”
Stephanie Allen, Workplace Health & Wellbeing Co-ordinator at NICHS added, “TES are excellent Workplace Champions who fully embraced the requirements of the programme focusing on empowering staff to make meaningful long-term changes to their health and wellbeing. NICHS recognise that the workplace is a priority setting for influencing the physical and mental wellbeing of employees. A good working environment, where people are protected and valued, and effective workplace health programmes can make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of employees, businesses and the communities in which people live and work. Registration will be opening soon for new workplaces to participate in Work Well Live Well. To find out more and register your workplace, visit nichs.org.uk/workwelllivewell
